Many times on dA have I visited a photograph with a plus-size model to read comments along the lines of "Jeez, why can't this model take care of herself? Get on the treadmill." Alongside are the comments of "Well, it's nice to finally see a REAL woman represented on dA!"

Also, many times I have visited a photograph with a thin model, and in reading the comments I come across things such as "Real women don't look like that, stop starving yourself and eat once in awhile." As well as comments expressing admiration for being able to see "tone and slight bone structure."

So here is my proposition. I would like everyone to view the photos below, feel free to leave respectful critique on the works or on this article, but think on these things while doing so:

Is under-eating really a better health choice than overeating? Both are extremes.

What constitutes a real woman as far as body type? Is a woman who is genetically predisposed to being thin less of a woman than the one who is predisposed to being more curvaceous?

*I am not trying to express an opinion about either, in writing this article I just want to try to promote open and healthy discussion, and keep my opinion to myself.

And now the photos;

The grand irony of this btw is you featured a dear friend of mine who was a strong advocate for body acceptance and self love from the opposite extreme in solidarity, together, CONSTANTLY sticking up for each other and promoting that all women are beautiful as moderators and frequent forum contributors on a popular modeling forum. Shyly is not a body type, she is a person. Please if you choose to "feature" women by fetishizing their body as an "extreme", ask their permission first. I would not have consented to representing "under eating". I am an art model. Shyly is an art model. We aren't just curiosities.
